Each residence in this Ultimate Multi-Dwelling Unit delivers a distinct and custom experience.

Situated on a coveted property overlooking the green landscape and contemporary architecture of Miami’s Museum Park, One Thousand Museum is late architect Zaha Hadid’s only residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. Blending ultra-luxury with iconic design, the building features over 60 floors of lavish condos and residences, only minutes from South Beach and the Brickell Financial District.

The challenge

One Thousand Museum’s architecture and design have made it one of the world’s most ambitious construction projects. The property’s co-developer, Kevin Venger, was seeking a custom, luxury automation experience that would complement the unique and unusual design of the building.

The solution

One Thousand Museum partnered with integrator AHT Global to implement cutting-edge smart home technology throughout the building’s luxury residences and common spaces. Al Reinhard, principal, and Doug Hirsch, project manager at AHT Global, selected the forward-thinking Crestron as the lifestyle technology manufacturer to provide residents and guests with a flawless experience throughout the building. The decision to opt for Crestron on this project was further motivated by the requirement for a comprehensive system that could meet the client's distinct design and specifications.

The technology

One Thousand Museum’s East-to-West flow-through floor plans range from 4,600 to 10,000 square feet, each offering multiple terraces uniquely formed by the curves of the tower’s sculptural exoskeleton. Within each unit, residents enjoy extensive state-of-the-art automation from the Crestron Home® platform. The fully customized, integrated system enables residents to control a wide range of in-unit applications, including audio, video, lighting, HVAC, window treatments, and security. Homeowners also have the ability to add DM NVX® AV-over-IP technology to their units, allowing the user to call up music in any space with a single touch. All controls are accessible from an intuitive, stylish Crestron touch screen, as well as via the Crestron Home app on a smart device.

Crestron Home offers the ability to create custom shading, lighting, and AV scenes throughout the residences. Wall-mounted Crestron Keypads allow every resident to be the king or queen of their home, with complete customization over control without compromising aesthetics. Crestron black hardware was selected to match the black-framed windows seamlessly, and the fabric was tailored to the column's angle. Triangle-shaped window inserts, crafted from Crestron fabric, ensured privacy for challenging windows. Customizable and automated shades and drapes enhance convenience, energy efficiency, and comfort. This seamless integration with the architecture elevates the overall luxury and visual impact of the system.

With over 30,000 square feet of beautifully designed venues for swimming, sunning, socializing, pampering, and fitness, One Thousand Museum offers an abundance of common luxury spaces. DM NVX technology powers content distribution throughout the common areas and is featured in the gym and spa. The Crestron Flex video conferencing platform transforms the building’s conference room into a powerful collaboration space designed for today’s hybrid work environment. With Crestron Flex, residents can bring their own device to join meetings easily. In the theater, a Crestron control system and Crestron touch screen enable easy setup for a luxurious viewing experience. The indoor and outdoor pools, gym, and spa area all feature audio and lighting scenes controlled by its residents.

Zaha Hadid’s water drop pattern enhances the sculptural quality of the building’s arched interior walls, and the double-height glass façade elevates its spectacular panoramic views. The scale, intricacy, and unusual inverted pyramid shape of the windows led Crestron custom shading to be the perfect solution throughout the building.

The results:

One Thousand Museum now has a visually stunning and fully functional window treatment system that perfectly complements the architecture. The Crestron system seamlessly blends with the design, offering both aesthetics and practicality. With Crestron Home, One Thousand Museum now offers its high-profile residents a custom, luxury living experience at their fingertips.
